  7. The following xBase function has been added to 1.29:
  8.    TRIM(Char_Value) trims spaces on the right of the char expr
  9.  
  10. Help file has been updated and recompiled.

  12. Shareware
  13. ---------
  14. DataWorks is SHAREWARE. After a thirty day evaluation period, if you
  15. continue to use DataWorks, you are required to register the product
  16. and include a license fee of $49.95 U.S. by check, money order, Visa
  17. or Mastercard. A registration form may be found at the end of this
  18. document.
  19.  
  20. DataWorks is designed as an xBase power user's tool to be used by
  21. developers building applications with VXBASE for Visual Basic.
  22. VXBASE may be found on the bulletin board that carries DataWorks.
  23. It is uploaded as two files. The latest release is composed of
  24. files vxbdoc.zip (documentation) and vxbase.zip (vxbase.dll).

  26. DataWorks documentation is contained entirely in an extensive
  27. Windows Help file accessible from the main DataWorks menu.

  30. Installation
  31. ------------
  32.    (1) Unzip dworks.zip with pkunzip
  33.            PKUNZIP DWORKS
  34.  
  35.    (2) Three more zip files appear
  36.  
  37.            DWMASTER.ZIP  an empty DataWorks data dictionary set
  38.                          to be loaded and unzipped into any
  39.                          directory that contains or will contain
  40.                          xBase files. Retain this file to set up
  41.                          new xBase locations that are accessible
  42.                          through DataWorks.
  43.  
  44.            VXBTEST.ZIP   If you currently have vxBase, move this
  45.                          file to \VB\VXBTEST and unzip it. It 
  46.                          contains DataWorks dictionary definitions
  47.                          for the sample database that comes with
  48.                          VXBASE.
  49.  
  50.            DWINDOWS.ZIP  contains dwx.exe, dwxdll.dll, dw.ini,
  51.                          and dwhelp.hlp. Move this file to your
  52.                          \WINDOWS directory and unzip. These are
  53.                          the actual program and supplementary files.

  56.    (2) New Users
  57.        ---------
  58.        copy DWMASTER to any directory on your hard drive that
  59.        contains Clipper databases (or to a new directory 
  60.        if you want to create new databases).
  61.  
  62.        Every directory that you wish to access with DataWorks
  63.        MUST HAVE ITS OWN COPY of the master dictionary files.

  65.        vxBase Users
  66.        ------------
  67.        If you wish to experiment with DataWorks, and have a copy
  68.        of vxBase, move the VXBTEST.ZIP file to \VB\VXBTEST and
  69.        unzip (don't copy DWMASTER there).

  72.        Existing Users NOTE:
  73.        --------------------
  74.        If you are upgrading an existing copy of DataWorks,
  75.        DO NOT UNZIP DWMASTER over top of your current dictionary
  76.        files. You will lose all current dictionary information.

  79. Running DataWorks
  80. -----------------
  81.  
  82.    (1) Bring up Windows and add DWX.EXE to a program group 
  83.        (or run it with the RUN command). The password is
  84.        MASTER. Enter a startup directory where you have 
  85.        placed a copy of the DataWorks dictionary files (i.e.,
  86.        unzipped DWMASTER). If you are running the sample
  87.        vxBase data set, enter \vb\vxbtest as the directory.
  88.  
  89.        You can alter the initial size of the files directory
  90.        screen. When you exit, the size you set will be saved.
  91.  
  92.    (2) If there are existing database files in the directory
  93.        you specified, you can add them to the DataWorks
  94.        dictionary with the File Import Dbf menu command.
